Change of status?

My mother has a working visa that expires on 12/4/05, but she would like to change her status to a tourist visa, that way she can stay for another at least 90 days (she is looking for another sponsor). Is there any possibility to change that visa with out leaving the country? Or maybe getting a student visa will be more appropiate? What can she do?

You cannot change to B1 visa in the states, to get a student visa you need to be accepted by a university and be given some papers so your options are limited.
