Change of Status to E-2 spouse

As a UK citizen, is it possible for me to go to a Consulate in Canada in order to get an E-2 visa stamp? Having recently married (my husband has an E-2) I have applied for a change of status (no response from USCIS as yet) but I understand I will need to go to an Embassy/Consulate to get my E-2 stamp. Is this a straightforward process that can be done in Canada or is it better to go back to the UK?

I would prefer to go to Canada as it will be quicker, cheaper and not so much of an upheaval as a trip back to the UK would be.

Where are you at the moment, if you are in the usa are you on a B visa. General rule is you have to go back to your home country, although you could always try rining the consulate in Barbados or Canada
