Hello Everyone,
I am J1 research scholar currently in the US. I have a valid J1 visa and DS2019 until October 2008. I have applied for waiver of 212(e) of the J1 visa. My online status at the Department of State shows 'Pending'. I am hoping that it might take 30-45 more days for the DOS to approve the waiver and send it to the USCIS for further processing.
I have been admitted in a PhD program and I wish to apply for the change of status from J1 research scholar to F1 student within the US.
Can someone help me with my question:
1. At what stage of the waiver process can I apply for F1 student using I-539
form.
2. Is there any information/checklist of the documents to the submitted from
the authentic DOS/USCIS website that can help me with the information
processing my case and application.
