Change of Interview date question

We sent in the N-400 for my wife about 2 months ago and got our interview right away which was a real surprise. The problem was is that we had planed a vacation in May and the interview date of course landed square in the middle. We had been saving for a long time and had non-refundable money tied up in the trip. We asked to have the interview rescheduled by mail and the request was granted (very promptly). The letter we got back said that the interview was canceled and any rescheduling would come in a separate letter. So far everything has gone really smoothly and I have been pleasantly surprised how fast they got back to us.
Does anyone have any advice as what to expect next? Does rescheduling generally create problems? Is there anything we need to do except wait for a new interview?

Thanks
Dan

update to date change

As an update to my original post: We just got a letter that gave us a new interview date for June 1st! I was expecting a biger delay. From our experience rescedualing only set us back a total of a 2 weeks and change. I doubt this is the norm but it worked out for us realy well. All I can figure is that there may be a slowdown in H1s due to the economy and that is why there was an opening so quick.

Good luck all

After they changed everything to the lockboxes the whole process has improved a lot. Once upon a time a request to move the interview date would put your case into a big blackhole from which it would never emerge.

where are you located?

Dan,

I'm glad the rescheduling worked out well. I also had to reschedule my interview - and also was pleasantly surprised to receive my interview date only 6 days after I requested "anytime after this date please".

I would not recommend rescheduling an interview for a trivial reason - but, when it it simply not possible, or would be expensive to do so, it is not the end of the world to have to reschedule.

Just got back from the interview in SF and all went well. All that is left is the swering in and my wife will be a citizen!
