Change of Address

There is a thread (http://boards.immigrationportal.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=92941) which talks about change of address. I moved once 5 years back, soon after I received my GC. I had not reported the change of address. Will there be a problem for obtaining citizenship? Has everyone in this forum reported their address change, each time?

And are there any, who moved but did not report, had no problems during your interview?

Not reporting a change of address is a deportable offense. Normally, if you have your current address on the N-400, you should be ok, but there is no guarantee.

When I was in DC (now in Midwest) area, I came to know of this change of address thing through the local Indian newspaper. Particularly after the 9/11 attacks INS is interested to beef up things, the article said. This Ar-11 thing has been in force ever since INS came to force but they were not very serious to implement it, the article said. Immediately I downloaded the AR-11 forms and sent them to INS though I moved an year earlier. As always (the article said that) put a return receipt for every letter you write to INS and keep it for your records. I did that. From then onwards I am updating my address. So I suggest you do the same and keep it for records and if anyone asks - admit the same - I did it as soon as I know. Hope this helps.
