change of address.

Hey there, I was just wondering if anyone has done a change of address before. I got my green card last year, I set up my address in a different state at that time but now I live in a different state. I changed my driver's license and they did ask to see my green card there so I'm guessing I don't need to let USCIS know about the address change? A few people I know told me they never called USCIS to let them know they changed the address, all you have to do is change the address with the dmv and that's it. As far as I understand you must let USCIS know of your new address only if your case is still pending or something like that.

thank you.

All noncitizens in the US (including green card holders) are required to file form AR-11 to report their change of address to USCIS, whether or not you have a case pending with them. If you have a case pending, you will have to extra paperwork specific to that case to get your address changed for that case, in addition to AR-11.

The DMV asked for your green card to verify your immigration status; they have nothing to do with reporting your address to USCIS.
