When I did it, never received notification but they did change the address.

I recommend you that call to 1800-uscis, and change your address by phone too. It is very easy and they supose to send you back a letter with the notification. Whether you don't recieved any answer in 30 days, you can call them again and they help you with that. In my opinion, you can do it in both ways. (AR11 and Calling)

a couple years ago, I changed my address by calling customer service, and I got a confirmation from USCIS at my new address. But I can't sure the policy has never been changed.

I am pretty sure calling and sending the AR-11 are not the same thing. When you call, they do change it in the system but you are REQUIRED to send the AR-11. When you send the AR-11 you do not get any notification unless you send it with a return receipt. As far as I know, one of the requirements for PRs is to notify the USCIS of address change so it is a good idea to send it certified mail return-receipt requested...

change of address

I did ask my attorney he said that as ur Permanent Resident now u dont need to call USCIS. Only u have to do is to send them AR11.Which i did with certified mail & return request. I got the green return request back in mail in a week time.Do u guys still feel i should call 1-800 & let them know.
Thanks every one.
