Change Of Address

I am a schedule A Nurse landed in US during the first week of February'06. In DS-230 & I-140 I indicated my US address as "not available at this point of time" and indicated my US based recuruiting Agencies address as the place to where the Green card should be dispatched.

Since I landed in US I am staying in an independent location and started working for the hospital (the petitioner). Now I am planning to shift to a still different apartment and planning to stay there atleast for next six months.

Can the attorneys indicate your opinion on this that when should I intimate to USCIS my change of address.

And what should be my previous address to be indicated in AR-11.

Kindly post your comments.

I don't know about I-140s, but in general, you should file the AR-11 within 10 days of your moving apartments. I know, the USCIS does not really enforce this law, but I think it is better to do it as soon as you can.
Also, and more importantly, you should call the 1-800 number to let them know your new address in order to receive any mail from USCIS. If you don't get their mail, e.g. RFE, in time, it can lead to unnecessary delays.

In general, this is the family-based Green Card forum - the "I-140 Issues" forum will surely be of more help to you!! (Return to "Immigrant Visas" and scroll down)

Good luck! :)

I am trying to change my address by sending the Ar-11 form to USCIS.
Can someone please let me know..

1) What should I fill in the "Number from the Alien Card" ? I dont have a EAD and i am still on H1B.

2) Port of entry and Date of entry columns - Are these the most recent entry details or the first date of entry ito US.

Thanks in advance,

BTW, none of us are attorneys :). This is a public forum where people share experiences, knowledge and time to time some jokes.

1) I don't have an "Alien card" either, but on your Receipt Notice for I-485 there is an Applicant number above your name that starts with an A. Anyone please correct me if I am mistaken, but I think that's your Alien Number.
I didn't have my Receipt Notice yet when I filed my AR-11, so wrote "None" into that box. That worked too.
Actually, I'm going to ask whether this is my Alien Number, since I always wanted to make sure. (Just did that: it is the Alien Number, and you can use that one for your AR-11. Also mention above that your status is AOS)

2) Yes, write down the most recent PoE and DoE. Where and when you last entered the US with your H1B.

Hope this helps. :)

Oh yes, totally forgot to mention that. We are NO attorneys. Although some in this forum really could be, concerning their amount of experience... and experience in calming people down....right Cherr?? :D
