Change of address before the interview

My husband and I are going to have our AOS interview on May 31 in Jacksonville, Florida. However, we have made plans to move out of city A a week after the interview. We are going to first move in with our in-laws in another city until we close on our new home.

I understand that many people's background checks are not cleared by the time time they have their interview. However just in case that it is cleared in my case and since we are most likely going to have our I-130 approved on the spot as well, the green card could be on its way shortly after the interview. I am concerned that we won't be able to receive my greencard because of the move.

Question one:

We would need to change our address on our application with the USCIS. I know it is a very confusing process and mistakes happen all the time within the USCIS, yet we have no choice. Should we do it right now, which is 11 days before my interview, or should we tell the interviewer to change our address when he approves our application on the spot ? Changing the address right now, might give the USCIS time to have my new address correctly on file by the time we have our interview. If we get approved, the Greencard will be safely delivered to our new address.

Question Two:

If we do change our address to my in-laws' right now, would the USCIS notice it and revoke my interview in Jacksonville and transfer my case to city B ? I really don't want to wait and I'd like to have the interview on May 31 at Jacksonville.

Question Three:

Also, will the USPS deliver my greencard to my in-laws' address even though my name is not listed as the owner of the property ?

Neither of the question would matter if I get stuck in the name check. In that case, I would not be anticipating a Greencard shortly after my interview. By the time my name check is cleared, my new address should be on file with the USCIS . However, I do keep my fingers crossed and hope that the interview goes well.

Thank you so much for your time to read it. I'd appreciate any advice you might have.

1. If there's still time, I suggest you make an infopass appointment in Jacksonville so at least you'll talk to a real person advising you of your options. What we all do on this forum is logical speculation, although I must admit it works most of the time. Also, when you do change it, don't trust the IO to do it for you. He has no obligation. File Form AR-11 by mail and also change your address with USCIS online.

2. This is a matter of jurisdiction. Go to www.uscis.gov, click on Office Locator, type in your in-laws zip code and find out whether their DO is different from yours. If it is different and you change the address now, USCIS has no choice than to transfer the file to that DO before the interview and you lose your current interview spot. Even if you do get interviewed in Jacksonville and it goes well, the IO could refuse to adjudicate your case because it fell out of his jurisdiction (i.e. send it to Miami or whatever).

3. Most post offices will not deliver your GC unless your name is on the mailbox or you have filed change of address with USPS under your name in care of your in laws' name at the in-laws' address.
