Am considering a potential job offer that will require relocation.
I just had my FP done.

Does anyone know the implication of having to move after the FP is done but before the actual interview?

If someone has gone thro' this, please post your experience, your feedback is appreciated.

Hmnnn..I don't know what happens if your DO changes???? Probably will delay your application. Check with others before moving.
 
Well, the Guide to Naturalization states, you'll have to reside in the district or the state the prior 3 months before applying but it doesn't talk about what happens if, one satisfies those requirements and does have to move after applying?

It would be a nightmare to move my case to a different DO and continue the process but on the other hand it could it be as simple as moving and having the interview scheduled at another DO?
 
I read somewhere in one of the threads on this forum that if you move to a different state (for example), USCIS will transfer your file if you let them know that you've moved.

However, I think this will cause a big delay with processing. If they do transfer your file over to the new place, hopefully nothing happens to your file like it getting misplaced or put into a wrong pile that could slow things down even more.

My opinion, try to move after you've finished your Interview and Oath.
 
Actaully, your application will be moved to the new DO and will be set-aside for 3 months to become elibgible in the new DO. Rest will be normal as usual.

Yes, I agree. I had same problem. FP is done in NJ. then i changed address to
CT. they schedule interview to NJ but now descheduled it and wait for three months to have in ct(from jan to april atleast) as i spoke with immigration officer.
 
Yes, that is correct. Your file will (hopefully) be sent to the new DO (not lost, as sometimes happens), then you must wait for 90 days to officially become a resident at the new location.
 
You guys know if the file is transfered to local DO immediately after FP or does it stay in Sevice Center for a while?
