Hi All,

We have applied for I-140/I-485 recently. Will it be o.k to change my residence address at this period? What are the things that I need to do and need to be aware of. Someone suggested that sending AR-11 form for address change will be o.k but it wont confirm whether the immigration office update my application with new address. The documents might still be send to old address.

Please advise.

Thanks,
Shan.

if you file AR-11 ,they will send you a letter to new address saying that your address has been changed.

I changed my address recently...has no problems with it.

also call the 1800 number for NSCS and using the receipt numbers for all the pending applications, get the address updated. Each applicant will have to call for their own application(s).

my attorney suggested that I send AR-11 to the address specified on the form.
A letter to the center you have filed application to..... with all the receipt numbers, DOB, A# etc. requesting them to update the adress in those applications.

Sending AR-11 alone does not update the address on ur applications, so the FP and other notices will end up being sent to old address. to avoid this folloe the above mentioned procdure of
1. Ar-11
2. Call 1800
3. Send a letter to center

Send all letters certified mail for proof

Sending the AR-11 just updates the 'AR-11 computer'.

It doesn't change your address with the processing center. They are supposed to check the 'AR-11 screen' anytime they do something on your case in order to have the most recent address, but the experience of scores of folks on this forum shows that that apparently is not done all the time.

Send a separate letter informing the processing center and any local office you are dealing with to update them with your address change.
