Change in law firm

This question is probably in the wrong forum, but since many read this forum, some may have some insight.

Out of the blue, my company changed our law firm from a midget to one of the world's top 50 law firms. Frankly, I am not impressed. Changing horses midstream is fraught with risk. Loss of documents, further delays, inattentive, snobbish lawyers working at a massive law firm with no customer service are risks to name a few.

The firm hired is Hunton and Williams.

Has anybody here has heard any positive or negative comments about them? Do they have a good track record in immigration matters?

Thanks and good luck.

I don't know what you are going to do at this point. Seems like good or bad you have to go with the new firm. I will be more worried about the switch from A to B and as you mentioned documents getting lost. If I were you I will keep copies of everything and follow process as if you didn't have a lawyer. It is time consuming but so is everything else we do to get where we are.

What stage of GC processing are you in?

Contact HR and find out who will represent your GC application process. Get in touch with the new attorney and find out if he\she has received your case files. If not, ask them what needs to be done to get those. I think law firms have an internal protocol of transferring case details when requested (not sure but I remember having read it somewhere). If so, try to initiate that request.
ASAP, file G28 form so that the new law firm now represents you from USCIS perspective. This would prevent any further communication from USCIS regarding your case going to your old lawyer.

You could also try asking your HR about how and when the case files are going to be taken over by the new law firm.

Big law firms have their plusses and minuses. So don't worry on that front. Just be on top of things.

Good luck!
