Change Address AR-11

For all the years, I did not know I would have to file the AR-11 to USCIS when I was on non-immigrant (F1, H1b) / immigrant (GC) status.

I wonder someone of you would recall if you received the insert flyer or information for filing AR-11 when you move in the mail with the GC actual card?

I do not even recall of reading the information about filing AR-11.

I am going to file the AR-11 however I am late for that already. Does anyone know if it will impact to my citizenship interview in July?

thanks

OCworker,

Relax and take it easy. The only thing you can do is file an AR-11 now with a return receipt and then take it with you to the interview. Inform them about it only if you get asked. My understanding is that the physical place where the AR-11s get sent to is in London, KY and it is the same for everybody in the US irrespective of your service center. I assume there is a disconnect between that office and the USCIS computers. You may never get asked about whether you filed all the AR-11s on time because the officer interviewing will not have access to that information. This is just my understanding.

They have become strict about AR-11s only after 9/11.

By law you are required to file an AR 11 within 10 days after moving to your new address, or it is considered breaking the law.

I understand it is by law we are required to file an AR 11 within 10 days. However, how would a person know it is by law? i mean if I did not go to the USCIS website to check; or never gone to this site and read post about AR-11;

that is why I asked and wondered since i do not recall i got the information from USCIS about I needed to do AR-11 prior / after / at the time I received my greencard. (Of course, i do not recall I received info does not mean I did not really receive the info)

I will just file the AR11 and send to KY, and try to take it easy.

thanks for your reply :)

It is all on the USCIS.gov website. Furthermore, you also have to phone them and tell them, and send it with certified mail and keep the receipt. I have moved twice since living here and both times filed the AR-11. And the second time, even though I got a NOA receipt of the address chnage they STILL sent my new GC to the wrong address!!!! You have to check and triple check with USCIS. :(

by the way, you mentioned to phone them and tell them, and send it with certified mail and keep the receipt.

do i need to phone USCIS about my address changed? I have the current latest address on my N400 form as I receive all NOAs from USCIS to this address thou.

thanks

Yes, I phoned the 1800-nohelp number , and they told me I also had to send in the AR11. But at least it was notated in their system.

was it because you moved after you submitted your immigration petition / application form?
