Change Address after stamping on passport

I am going to move to the new place next week. I got my I-485 approved on 5/7/03 and stamped on my passport on 5/29/03. Still waiting for my plastic card to send to me. What should I do to change my address. I have called National the Customer Service Center (800) 375-5283 three times, and every time they gave me different answers. I am so confused and asking for help now.
One IIO said he cannot process until I physically move in to the new place. The other one said that I have to write a letter to Vermont Service Center to change my address, since the case is not in "Pending" status. Anyone knows what the correct way to do this? Thank you in advance.....

Your best option would have been to update the address when you had gone for your stamping. You will now have to go through the regular channels of filing an AR-11 and calling the service center handling your case and update them. It is a risk as your card will not be forwarded and destroyed if returned back to BCIS. They will then have to issue a new one and may take a while.
