I would like to make this short and direct. I'm an adult with a multiple entry visa which I have been using to travel. My dad is a naturalized us citizen. My dad is not an option for getting any assistance and we have no contact. What are my chances of getting citizenship with only a birth certificate....

I believe he was not a citizen yet at the time only permanent resident. I need to get more details from my mother ,but he left to go serve back in the military. My younger brother who is disabled is his also ,and again there is a birth certificate. He just left without any contact or child support. According to relatives he has a whole new family. He comes back to the country often, but chooses to make his presence unknown to us. I believe he is now retired from the military and want s to forget about his past. I have tried to contact him on seperate occasions while growing up ,but he seems to not be interested. I 'm an adult an a I respect his decision and have no interest in monetary support or wish to mess up his new life. I am just interested to see if I can go through the process without his help.Was your dad a U.S. citizen when you were born? When you say "My dad is not an option for getting any assistance", does that mean he will not cooperate or help in any way?

Ok I see. Thanks again for you quick reply.If your dad was not a U.S. citizen when you were born, or he was but you were born out of wedlock and your mom wasn't a U.S. national, then there's pretty much no way you can get citizenship or immigrate through him without his cooperation.
