I would greatly appreciate your thoughts on the following credentials for applying for EB-2 NIW:

1) MSEE from a top school in US (BSEE also in US, not top school though).
2) 1 IEEE conference/workshop presentation
3) Many scholarships and awards in UG and a couple in G
4) Potential good letters from PhD level people (both industry and acad.)
5) R&D job (high-tech, somewhat defense related).

Thanks in advance.

NIW partly means NATIONAL INTEREST WAIVER (Other benefit of aplying in this categpory that you can self peition and you dont need a job offer. I know you can self peition in EB-1 EOA too but they now ask for JOB OFFER in that category as well as you intent to stay in this fiedl for a long time). This category was specillay created for the people whose presence in USA would be in national interest of this country. Evaluate your career, your work or your effort which had lead to development of something that makes you in their national intesrest.
What you have mentioned does not prove that atleast at this time to me.

Sorry to say that but you have to carefully judge your case before placing it in front of an Immigration Oiifcer or ADjudicator who should be sufficiently convinced by your justifications that you actually deserve to be classified in NIW to get an approval.

Oh I haven't applied yet. I am thinking about it and looking for options.

Thanks for your honest opinion. I heard cases of people without a paper to their name got NIWs (or are only co-authors on 2 conf.) who didn't even have job offers. (In my case I have an MS requiring R&D job) That is the reason I thought I would explore this option. Also the school I went too is very well known and ranks up there. Keep in mind I am asking about Eb-2 NIW not eb-1 (not sure why you mentioned eb-1, just clearing my purpose).

Thanks again, any more opinions.

P.S. You scared me with the red letters. I thought I broke forum rules or something when I began reading your response :)

It appears you have successfully received NIW. Could you please share your credentials so I can have a ballpark estimate of just how wonderful i would have to be to qualify? Thanks.
