Cases are being transferred to reduce backlogs

My and my wife's 485 cases have been transferred to Missouri service center. I talked to immigration officer at the local office and he said that as of April 2004 cases are being transferred to reduce backlogs. I hope this is correct. Is there anyone out there whose case has been transfered? My ND Apr 3, 2003.

Transfer to local office

If that's true, it might create a bigger backlog at the local office.

A friend of mine (ND 09/02) got transferred to the local office in Cleveland, Ohio one week after his RFE was received. The current processing time in Cleveland office is 1 year behind.

But some local offices (eg: Seattle) are current.

Rhyme or Reason

Are any reasons being citied for the transfer of the cases (other than reduction of backlog) ?

Can we decipher a pattern in the cases being transferred?

The wait times at the local centres vary widely from none to as much as even two years at some centres.

What do you mean by saying "the current processing time in Cleveland office is 1 year behind"? 1 year after being transferred to local office?

I am also in Cleveland, Ohio. My I-485 RD is 10/21/03 but i haven't received the first FP notice yet. Does that have anything to do with the Cleveland office? I heard that FP is issued depending on the workload of local office. Not sure if it's true.

FP schedule may be based on the work load of local office.

I received my notice on 05/06 and am scheduled for 06/17 in Detroit. Recently, I find guys getting notice on 05/20 or so and are scheduled for around same time as 06/17 (They may be at different local center).

Transfer in principle is a good thing, if they at USCIS are smart enough to transfer only if the local office is not jammed alreagy.

transfer to local?

Hi! Guys,

Do you think maybe the cases which are transfered all have cleared I-140? If NSC processes I-140 and I-485 together, what's the point to transfer unless local service center also handles I-140.

My case is not transferred to local office but to a service center. I have no idea whether it is good or bad.
