Case transferred to St Louis Sub Office, refusing to renew EAD

I am a family based applicant for AOS. I never filed in Chicago. I filed in St Louis district office my 485, ead and AP. Interview was done and am waiting name check. First EAD and AP were approved in Feburuary 2005 and issued from St Louis office. As the forms mention that we can renew EAD and AP within 6 months of expiry my lawyer filed the applications at the St Louis office. They accepted the AP application but not the EAD application stating that it is too early and they will accept it within a month of expiry date i.e Jan 2006. My lawyer tells me another option is that we can file at Chicago lockbox and wait for it all to be processed there. I am not sure which option to choose. My problem is that as a Physician I just cannot stop working if EAD is not renewed before the expiry of the current one. I will be in a terrible situation. My worry is that as of now the office is doing EAD renewals if they change their policy in December then I will loose the 90 day advantage and will not be able to get interim EAD. If I send the application to Chicago then atleast I will be able ot get an interim EAD at St Louis.
Any suggestions as to my situation and what course to pursue will be appreciated.
