Our (spouse and mine) I-485 cases have been transferred to Newark,NJ office. I learned this from online message chanegd on yesterday. Does anyone have an idea about how long it will take for Newark,NJ office to schedule/conduct our interview?

On the same note:- We have planned abroad trip in late Nov-06 for nearly 4 weeks. Now after seeing this I-485 message, I am kind of concerned that if interview gets schedule while we are out of country on vacation, it will jeopardize things if we miss the interview call?

Can expert share their experiences and knowledge

Thanks,

Following is the message online and also same message in an USCIS email.

"On September 7, 2006, we transferred your I485 Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status to our office in NEWARK, NJ for them to schedule and conduct your interview. Scheduling can take several months. Our office in NEWARK, NJ will notify you when they schedule your interview or take other action on your case."

Ours is Schedule A category (Spouse is Primary who falls under Schedule A and I am dependent) so no retrogression.
