Just now checked the AVM and found out that my case (EB2 NIW, PD Jan 98, ND 8/6/99, RFE 11/1: empl. letter) has been transferred to the local INS office in Washinton D.C. I live in Virginia, so do they mean the office in Arlington? Does anybody have knowledge in this regards? I also heard that processing at the local INS offices\' takes so long! Please comment.......

hi,
i am sure they will transfer your application to arlington office. i think it will take three months to schedule for an interview. Arlington office is one of the worst ins offices. its normally taking 20 months from the time you filed i-485 to go for an interview. i got that from my lawyer. i live in va too. you should go to ins office in arlington and discuss your case with them. they dont process i485 cases based on employment and you have got to push them. please let us know about your case and any info you are getting from this office. i have a feeling they may transfer my case to local ins office too. good luck.
cheers,

Hasanali, thank you so much for the message. When you say 20 months: is it 20 months from the time the case is transferred to the local or from the day we have sent the file to VSC? Could you please clear this.....(because I have sent my I-485 in Jul 99)Thanks

HEY,
its 20 months from july 99 (when you filed i-485 to VSC)
but as i siad before, you gotto go there and push them for an interview. dont wait for the lawyer. its really out of his/her hand. Arlington office is so screwed up man. Count 20 months after july 99 and they should give you an interview at that time. please let us know what happens when you go to arlington office. you should call VSC and ask them when they transefered your case to local ins. then you should go to arlington ins office really early in the morning. its always crowded there. i am sure you will get your interview in about three months. cheers,
