...receiving upates as to the status via the USCIS website and email or the local office is not part of the electronic update system?
One more q: what's the time frame for processing cases in NYC after the transfer?

Once your case is transferred to the local office, all you're going to see on the CIS website is a transfer message.

Dilarossi My case was Transfer from NSC to Local NYC INS office on April 20th. Local Office sent me Interview letter on May 11 (around 20 days). And Interview will be on June 20th.
