raj,
The interview went OK. The lady was nice. It was mostly yes/no questions from the I-485 form itself. She asked for the recent employment letter and the last year's tax returns(I gave her 3 years). Everything seemed to be going OK until one last glitch. The medical form I-693 was missing in my son's file. She said it could be a mistake by the doctor that he did not include in the sealed envelope or may be the service center forgot to put it when they transfered the file. She said she can not complete the cases and approve until we have this missing form. However, she did mention that we were technically approved, but could not complete the process due to this form. She even took our I-94's and had us sign on a card that read "INITIAL RESIDENT CARD" that she said serves as a temporary green card if we had to travel to Canada or Mexico. She mentioned once she gets the form, she'll mail the approval notice and then we can go back and get the passports stamped.
I then went back to the doctor and got the forms(again sealed in an envelope) and submitted the envelope next day at the office. I hope he has put the right forms this time.
Then on 29th, I got one more letter from INS office stating that I need to submit a copy of my I-140 approval notice(since I was a concurrent filer, they don't have this on file). I'll now go back to INS on Monday and submit the I-40 approval notice and then eagerly wait for the approval notice.
I am partially relieved, but am unable to officially celebrate until I get the final approval. I hope I get the final relief in the next few weeks.
I'll keep you guys updated.
