Hi everybody,
I got the message online that says:

On December 04, 2002, we transferred your I485 APPLICATION TO ADJUST TO PERMANENT RESIDENT STATUS to another INS office for them to schedule and conduct your interview. Scheduling can take several months. That office will notify you when they schedule your interview or take other action on your case.

Can someone give me information on what will happen now?. How long can this take and so on.... I live in NJ and my layer is in Philadelphia, do you know were I'll be transferred?.
Can I travel abroad during this time?.

Thanks for any information that you can give me.

TRASFERRED Cases...

Scheduling an interview can be anytime between 1 month to 3 months. Depends upon the load at the INS center.

What ever documents you can think of in relation with Immigration make sure you have them all.

6mnths pay stub
Depending on how many years you have been in USA get the W2 for the last 3 years. Tax papers submitted to the IRS etc.

Interviews run for 15min to may be an 1.30hr.

Sometimes presence of your lawyer during interview also helps (though not needed).

You can always travel abroad as long as you have a valid H1 or AP if you are working on EAD.

Interviews are not tense they are just to make sure that you are still working with the same or in the same postion( if changed jobs ).

After the interview they MAY take your passport or else may give you some temp stamp and mail a approval at a later date.

Approval Notice may again take 2 weeks to 3 months of time after which you can go for stamping.

Hope this information was helpful.

Good luck!

Thank you very much Romalin!!

I really appreciate that you took the time to help me.... I'm kind of scare with this interview "thing"....

Do you know how they select the INS center where interview will be?.
Thanks,
malda

Don't worry...

They generally give the closest INS to your residential location.

And Interview thing is not to be worried about...as i said it just results in more time WASTED and anxiety.

As i have seen some of my freinds go thru the phase.

As long as the documents are all with you...you are all set!

Thanks again romalin..... I'll try to keep calm..:)

I was asking about the place of the interview because looks like that every center have very different time frames.
My fingerprints were taken in Philadelphia even if I live in NJ..... maybe we'll be same place now for the interview?...... I will have to wait for the notice.....
Thanks again for all your help.

You do not need to wait.

Malda, if you call the INS center auto answering service,802-527-4913 with EAC#, the computer will tell you the center name.

The online info won't tell you the local office.

Peace

Thanks Turkish Engineer,
I'll have to keep trying, the phone message has not yet been changed.
