Case status referral.

I asked to a case status referral of my I-290B since more than 60 days have passed. Today I got their response in the mail and this is what the letter says:


The status of this service request is:

Immigration and Naturalization law prohibits this office from responding to an inquiry submitted by anyone other than the petitioner/applicant. We will be happy to respond to an inquiry submitted by the petitioner/applicant.

What in the world this means???? Even the letter indicates that I (the petitioner) called for status referral. So why they answered with such response?

Any clues are welcome.

If you are being sponsored by a company, then the company is the petitioner,, not you. They should ask about it

Sorry. I'm the applicant and the letter clearly says "petitioner/applicant"... any ideas??

You are the beneficiary. The company is the petitioner / applicant.

for the 140 application the petitioner is your employer not you.
