Case Status and BCIS Response Time

Does anyone know how much time it typically takes BCIS to respond to an inquiry on a case that has been submitted once the case is 30 days past the current processing date. I wonder how often this forces a decision on the case or do they simply respond that they are working on it and to be patient.

My lowyer made an inquire on my behalf couple of days ago and was told to wait until January 8. If nothing happens till that time to call them again.As I am writting this I realize that I do not know whether she called Customer Service only or put that in writting?

I rasied an enquiry for EAD and it took them about 30 days to send me an letter saying they are looking into the case
