case status 800 line useless?

Hi all,

I'm trying to find out the status of my case by calling the 800 number listed on the INS' site for status checks…. all I get is an automated system that tells me that "information for this receipt number cannot be located at this time in the system…"

Where are the customer reps? When the different options are read, it's specifically says that representatives are available Mondays through Fridays from 8am till 6pm… but no option to talk to a rep. is available…

When I tried looking up the case online, it reads: " Your case information is incomplete within Case Status Online. For further assistance, please call the National Customer Service Center at 1.800.375.5283."

Can someone please tell me how to reach a human being to talk to???

I'm waiting to hear whether my N-400 is approved or not (didn't get a final answer at the time of interview and was told my case will need to be reviewed by a supervisor).

I pressed (1) - For English
Pressed (2) - To find case status

There is no (3) option - Once I get the case status option, I'm told to key in the receipt number, at which point, I get the message above about no information available…

never mind, my bad. I got through a rep.

... still no answer and she couldn't tell me what was going on. the only thing she said was that I should give it another 90 days... :(

Did you ask her to transfer to an IO (second level rep.?). When you call next time, tell them that you need to talk to an IO regarding your case details ...Tell her that you were suggested by the case status online to call this number.. blah .. blah..

No I did not... :(

I don't mind waiting (well I do, but... ), but I wish the IO wouldn't have told me it will only take 2 weeks... He got me all hyped up, and when the two week mark came and left, I was left impatient.
