Case Status – Outside Processing Time?

I have received the following response of my query form Vermont center. Could anybody answer what additional review means?

"Based on your request we researched the status of this case. We are actively processing this case. However, we have to perform additional review on this case and this has caused a longer processing time. If you do not receive a decision or other notice of action from us within 6 months of this letter, please call customer service at the number provided below."
 
I got the same response when I changed my address ! I really wondered what that means as well. Its already 4 months since I got that letter and waiting for 6 months to finish !,lets see if some body replies and gives us some insight
 
I got the same response, I had requested with my A# and Receipt # but it said I needed some kind of background or security check and clerance and that they are waiting to hear back on it. But it had the same timeline of 6 months and then call the 1-800 number.

I guess Security check /clearance is buying time along with the PD being available.
This is the latest thing that has everyone stuck on this stage. I am not sure if some one really made it past it because I have been reading posts by tons of them and everyone is cribbing about it.

Case Status Inguiry Timeframe

How long does it take for us to receive the reply on the case status inquiry? I made an inquiry on December 02. I did n't receive any reply yet. I would appreciate any info here.
