Case Inquiry Status

My ND for I485 is 11/08/2004 and USCIS is processing 12/16/2004. Since it is more than 30 days, should I create the case status inquiry (I just heard about this term, not sure if there is such or if I can do it).

Per VISA bulletine they are processing 01AUG2001 cases, my priority date is some where in MID SEP2001. I would appreciate your advice.

I Think you need to wait till your date is current. Otherwise they can simply reply you that visa number is not available. Also status inquiry does not really mean that they will have to approve your case. It simply means that they will look at your case and find out what is wrong with it, and they usually do this very slowly. I learned this the hard way when I inquire my AP application. Maybe you should check through your local congressman to see if your NC is cleared. If so, then you got nothing to worry: You will get your GC once the date is current.
