Case assignment process

I called CSC last week and I was told by an IIO that my case was assigned on April 30th/2003. To my surprise when I called today to find out if what I was told last week is credible, another IIO told me that my case was assigned to an officer today (May 7th) at 9:06 AM. It looks to me as if the information in CSC computer is updated weekly. Any idea on how cases are assigned to officers? I don't know what to believe
Thanks

Probably - their S/W prog is stuck in an infinite loop and is assigning the same case to different officers every week. No wonder there is a delay. or possibly you got the same IIO as last week and he did not refresh his screen. :D

Hopefully by next week they would have moved forward with your case and not assigned it again. Thank god for some movement in your case. Gives us hope.

Hi
I also faced thismany times. Each time I call they give a different date. Looks like they update very often may be weekly. Does not help us in any way. On-line message does not talk about case being assigned to officer and says only "ur fingerprints recd " etc.

Idea behind this is to keep you happy as any salesman do, if you call next week he/she will say they just handed over the case to the officer. All we can do is just believe... Cheers

I finally got an RFE today. I haven't received it. They finally touched my case. Haven't changed employer and expect to respond to the RFE asap

logx,

Looks like your case was touched after all! :)

Yeah send a reply to the RFE immideatly! Sounds like you should be hearing the approval bells soon! :) Good luck!

It is possible that on 04/30 your case was indeed assigned to an officer but because of some reason that officer didn't work on that case and returned it back to waiting area! The reason could be..

1. That officer stopped processing I-485s and moved on to some other cases by returning all cases on his desk.
2. The officer is a newly trained and the case looked a bit complicated and he returned it to some one more experienced.
3. The officer processed it to some extent and sent it for review to some one more experienced because of some specific reason.
4. May be their tracking system is too messed up :)
