This is the Excel spreadsheet they use for December stamping.... maybe we could use it too.

I have added the info so far, in order of passport stamping date. I have an appointment for January 19.

AD-12/16/2004
Stamped - 1/4/2005

BTW the guy who stamped me said my card will arrive within 6 months. I thought they had a 60 day rule now.

Hello members.,

do they need/keep original notice?

i'm scheduled to go for stamping on 1/7. i've read two posts where the original approval notices were not returned after the stamping. Please post/pm your experience to me. I'm planning to take all originals, but hand them only a photocopy.

On the back of the notice, it says "Please save this notice for your records. Please enclose a copy if you have to write us or a U.S. consulate or if you file another application based on this decision."

The fingerprinting and signature is required for the I551 card is another application based on this approval. A photocopy should be all they need.

Any experience/trouble using photocopies would help me a great deal.
thanks in advance.

I didnt get back the approval notice either. Noticed that they had pinned the photos, EAD , form with signature and thumbprint etc. all with the approval notice. I thought it was part of their procedure? Is this a problem? Come to think of it i have no way of proving that i have been approved, except for the attorney's copy of my approval notice. But dont see the use anyways for it since passport has been stamped.

I'd read in some posts that it is advisable to carry the 485 approval notice while travelling with the stamp. As it is, there was considerable uproar about the stamp a couple of months ago. Many European countries ask for the physical green card or a transit visa. I guess the issue was that the stamp is not as secure (no hologram etc).

I am wondering if I should risk pointing out the instructions at the back of the notice to these people. Don't want to piss them off. At the same time, if a photocopy works, why not!

Well the lady at the counter where they give you the token asked me for EAD I gave her all my EAD's and the Ap and they took it all away.

stamped today Jan 5

My wife and I got our passports stamped today at Philadelphia. No problems, except for a half-hour wait. The guy was very efficient and courteous. He did not even ask for the original (which I didnt have) approved I-485. Courtesy copy was enough.
He was being legally correct by saying the plastic card will arrive in about 6 months, although I am optimistic it will arrive earlier (from the various posts in this forum).
We were required to turn in our EAD and AP documents. My wife's EAD expired today !!!

Good luck to all, and a happy new year!
Raj
