I have been a silent observer on these forums, and have followed the travails of many in their quest for permanent residency here in the States. It is amazing that as we go through this rather serpentine process, we manage to maintain a sense of humor, and never forget the fact that there is sill a life to be led, and obligations to self, family and society to be met.
In any case, I am happy to report that after a period of 4.5 years, the GC journeys for my wife and I appear to be at an end. We received our “Card Production Ordered” emails on April 30, 2008, and the “Welcome notice mailed” emails on May 1, 2008 (today). Details are in my signature. I do not know if my name-check has cleared or not, or if I just went through because of the 180-day rule. It is probably the latter.
I know that many of you have been waiting for a lot longer than I have, and I clearly should not be counseling you in any way. Let me just wish you the very best.
