Dear POJ and other gurus,

After a long struggle, We have received our card on Nov 28, 2005. However,
my wife's card has an error. In the sex column, instead of Female, it is wrongly mentioned as Male. This needs to be fixed.

We talked to customer service center. They told us to file I-90 along with the new card.

I saw the I-90 form. We have couple of questions to all the gurus.

1.) In the application type, where should we click non commuter or commuter. What is the difference?

2.) The date of admission or adjustment of approval? Is it I-485 approval date?

3.) How should I mention the actual error in the card? Should I attach a sheet paper mentioning the error? Is there any specific format?

4.) What are the documents need to be sent?

Please help.

Error in card.

I would suggest that you go to the nearest Application Support center and let them handle it. That way you may not be required to give any filing fees. I had similar situation where my picture was wrong and the support center took care of it.

Hi schak:

I had similar problem - but not a serious one - on the plastic card.
Here is what I found from forums and my lawyer & my response below:

1.) In the application type, where should we click non commuter or commuter. What is the difference?

A: Commuter status is given if you are working for US firm and staying
out of the country for a long time due to job necessity.

2.) The date of admission or adjustment of approval? Is it I-485 approval date?

A: I-485 approval date (you should see this date on your I551 stamp
on your PP)

3.) How should I mention the actual error in the card? Should I attach a sheet paper mentioning the error? Is there any specific format?

A: Send a covering letter mentioning the error.

4.) What are the documents need to be sent?

A: Covering letter explaining the mistake, form I-90, copies of your
passport (pages where you have your personal details like your name,
father's name, mother's name etc, copy of your PP page containing
your I551 stamp), copy of I-485 approval notice
and MOST IMPORTANTLY your PLASTIC CARD :D

Before doing so, consult with an attorney if you are not sure what
you are doing.

Good luck

Card-silly Mistake

Thanks. Howdy..Howdy.

Ours is also a very simple and silly mistake. I have to sent the card back with I-90 application.

In your case, how much time it took to get the corrected card?
