Please post your opinions on this issue:
For all the students who are getting H-1s to start on October 1st, 2005....do we need to back to our country after the 60 day grace period expires...ie...after OPT + 60. Some people have said that we have to go back and pick up the visa at the consulate and then come back. Some have said that there was a directive passed last 2 years that allowed cap-gap problem students to stay back but not work only if H-1 was in process...(students got 240 day grace period after 60 day expired). My H-1 has already been approved. SO my question is....if they pass a directive like the last 2 years can I stay back? Any thoughts?
