Can't get through CIS customer service

Hi Everyone,

I have been trying to call the CIS 1800 number to check on the status of my case--my ND is Dec. 1999. In order to talk to any human, I have to go through a few steps. When enter my LIN number, I get a recorded message saying that due to a temporary problem with the system it cannot access my case. I tried to call in the last few days, but I got the same message every time. That is great, I can't even talk to them anymore. Did anyone else have similar experience? Any suggestions on how can get through them? It’s very frustrating.

Thanks,

Gino

I am having the same problem since last week. Either there is a problem in their system or they have blocked off all communication till they sort out their issues :)

sal403,

I think they just blocked off communication with certain people, and not all. I have a few other LIN nos., not mine, so I tried, and was able to get the information for those cases on the phone. Let's hope that this a good thing, and not a bad, we just don't need any bad things

Gino,

The only other explanation that comes to my mind is maybe they are "working" on the cases and access to those is temporarily blocked. What do you say??

sal403,

I would really like to think this way, but we can't be sure. Let's hope we will hear from them soon. Otherwise, I'm going to fly to Nebraska and to find out! I'm sure they won't let me in!!! It's just too much!

Gino -

I would advise that you write a letter to the Director of the Nebraska Service Center. He has an office that handles any complaints/inquires in to cases being processed at the center.

Customer Feedback:
We strive to provide quality service to our customers. If we have not lived up to this commitment, we would like to know. If we have met or exceeded your expectations, please let us know that as well. To comment on the services provided at this office, please write to the Center Director, at:
USCIS Nebraska Service Center
P.O. Box 82521
Lincoln, NE 68501-2521

Note in the heading of the letter and on the envelope: "FOR THE PERSONAL ATTENTION OF THE DIRECTOR."
If you feel you were mistreated by a USCIS employee, or wish to make a complaint of misconduct by a USCIS employee, you may write to the Center Director, or write directly to:

Director, Office of Internal Audit
425 "Eye" Street, NW Room 3260
Washington, DC 20536

Please be specific and reference specific case numbers and dates to provide the best way for us to understand and assess your complaint.

I wrote to the Director a few years ago when they took a long time to issue me an RTD and sent me a messed up RTD. I was amazed at the quick and professional response from the Director's office.

Good Luck!

LolaLi,

Thanks a lot! You're very helpful, as usual, even though you already have your GC. I will send them a letter very soon.

We asylees must stick together - greencard or not! :) Please let us know what happens ok? And don't forget to send the letter certified so you know it was delivered.

I wish you all the best and hope you get adjusted real soon.

LolaLi,

Thanks. Actually, I just called the number, got through by pressing some random numbers and waiting for 30 minutes. The lady told me that my ND--Dec. 20 99-- has to be within 30 days of the processing date that the CIS website shows--which is Dec. 24 99--before she can take a referral. So, I will have the pleasure of waiting for another month, and possibly longer! And I love to wait!

Seriously - go ahead and do a status request. They are working on cases beyond Dec. 24 99 and she is just reading you some BS.

If you are concerned about angering CIS, just write the letter in a pleasant tone and inquire about the status of your case. Send it to the Director's office - believe me it never hurts to inquire with CIS.
