I am canadian PR for more than 3 years. I live and work in US but visit canada frequently because of my family ties there. My wife is also a canadian citizen. I have 2 questions:

1. Can I apply for canadian citizenship even though I have not lived there, but maitained health card, bank account, sin # etc.

2. My PR is expiring next year. Does PR generally expire in 5 years. Can It be renewed? What is the procedure to renew it?

Any comments welcome.

answer1: you can only apply for canadian citizenship if you have physically resided in canada for 1095 days(365*3).

answer2:How do you know that your landing immigration paper is expiring? I have not heard that it expires every 5 years. I can ask my canadian lawyer and let you know.

I do not know what is the procedure for renewing landing status in canada. I will talk to a lawyer and let you know.

Reply to Mr cool J from Canedian.
I have talked with a Canadian immigration lawyer. He said that in landing paper box 33 there is a "visa validity" section. This visa validity tells you when your landing visa expires. Which means that by this date you have to land in Canada. After landing there is no expiration of your paperwork unless it is 15 or 20 years old and the paperwork is not readable.
I would urge you to consult with another immigration lawyer in Canada.

Thanks for your response. I was my mistake. I talked to a lawyer and he told me the section I was reading as expiration date is expiration of my passport and not PR. PR never expires. Thanks for help and sorry for inconvenience.
