cancelling appointment in chennai consulate

I'm in a unique situation and though I posted my query already I still dont have a convincing answer.My self and my husband booked for appointment (H1 and H4 visa) at chennai consulate for nocv 1st.but my husband will not be able to make the appointment and we need to cancel only his appointment and not mine.When I wrote to the VFS reg my situation I got the following reply,
"Kindly note that it is a petition type case so, there is no other way to cancel only one applicant's appointment for the interview. If you do not want to go for the interview then kindly tell your wife to explain to the consulate at the time of the interview and consulate officer will make the final decision"


I dont know how far will this work out and we are afraid if it will have any negative impact later when my husband goes for H1 stamping.As of now I have appointment on Nov 1st but when i checked again today it shows that the next available date is only dec 28th.

I'm helpless...
Can anyone please help in this regard?

Dear SSSelPaso,

It quite a unique situation. However, one option is to reschedule both of your appointments to a later date. This can be done online unless you are stuck with some other personal issues of travel and family matters.
Nowadays they do not allow advancement to an earlier date.

If nothing works, be confident in answering the VO if the question does arise

We cannot travel together and so rescheduling the appointment is quite impossible.My husband tells me to cancel the appointment (as he feels that it might have some negative impact later when he goes for his H1 stamping )and book for a fresh one for me alone.But the dates are available only late december and I want to go badly in november.
I'm really confused...............

Once again sorry to note your personal situation, but we cannot help adhering to the system and the dates of appointments. If it comes to that just follow what the system dishes out and hope for the best. if you do find alternatives like if you can go to Canada/Mexico consider that.
