Canceling the N400 application?

My spouse and I are sending our N400 application together.
If I decide to "NOT go ahead" with the citizenship, will it affect my spouse's processing (as we are sending together)? And will it give me a black mark if I decide to apply at a later date again. This is assuming my application is also sent, and I want to back off before the interview (to retain current country citizenship). Is that ok? Is there a procedure to cancel the application?

Thanks!

Your and your wife's applications are independant from each other. If you don't know if your native country will allow you to enter into a dual citizenship status then wait until you would receive their decision (if you can apply for an exemption). If you don't have that option it would be probably best to decide what you want to do before you apply for naturalization. If your country is in process of deciding about your dual citizenship application you would gamble with two timelines, hoping that this works out and maybe save a few months ... on the other hand you would risk to get stuck dead in your tracks if your native country would be slower than the USCIS. Patience would be your best friend in that case ...
