quick question for any canadians out there. I am a medical student doing clinicals in US. I know I have to be on B1 visa to do clinicals, but last time i went through US customs, i provided them with a letter from my school stating that as a part of my curriculum, i need to do clinical rotations in US. Even after seeing this document, the immigration officer gave me a N/C with no expiry date on my passport. First of all, what doesn N/c means? 2) can i stay as long as my school document states (ie upto may 2009).
I am confused because i showed the document and asked the immigration officer for B1 visa, but he gave me N/C visa. Can i change my status while in US (ie. if i need to).
