Canadian & USA concurrent PR process

Hello,

I am currently working for an employer in california on H1B visa.

My current employer's attorney are in the process (right now the attorney's are going through the job description and employment newspaper ads) of filing my US green card with the Caliofrnia Service Center (EDD).

However, based on the California labor certification timeline (both state and federal) and remaining two stages of US green card, I am also planning to apply for Canadian green card (PR) application as a back-up source.

a) Can I apply for two countries (US & Canada) green card process at the same time??
b) Would there be any consequences from any of the two government regarding my green card filing to the two subsequent countries??

Please help,

Regards,
Mayank

There is no problem in having concurrent Permanent Residencies of two countries. Ultimately you will have to let go one. I just got my US GC. My Canadian PR is also approved (I have the immigration visa on my passport)and I am planning to cross the border and complete formalities for Canadian PR card.
Thanks
