I landed in Canada and came back to work in the US. Do I need to file tax? Has any of you receive a tax return?

My guess is I will only file when I physically move to Canada. Any comments?

Thanks

After becoming a PR of Canada you are supposed to report on earnings worldwide.

Yes, you have to file tax in Canada based on your US income.

However you dont have to pay double taxes as Canada-USa have a tax treaty.

Non-resident

My understanding is that if one has not moved or established any ties in Canada, he or she is considered non-resident for taxation purpose, even if he or she has landed (183-day rule, etc.)

You will only need to file a return (as a non-resident) if you have income from Canada, such as bank interest.
