Please explore u r comments ???

thanks in advance

Canus,

Technically, you will have to pay Canadian Taxes on world wide income. If you are working in the IT field in the US, you will pretty much fall in the 29% tax bracket. :( and end up paying around 20k in Canadian tates in addition to what you have paid in the US.
If you pay Canadian taxes, you will not get citizenship rights. Before you can apply for Canadian Citizenship, you will have to be a Landed Immigrant for 3 years.

However, if you want to sponsor one of your family members (Canadian Immigration), then you will have to prove that you have paid Canadian taxes.

Actually proof of residing in Canada for 3 years is also needed as far as I know.

But one of the Guys here (forgot his name) did apply for his citizenship by using his frinds address. He worked in US and I believe paid taxes both in Us and Canada.

This tax thing is def a grey area.

can you sponsor family members if you pay canadian taxes?

Hi,

If you have

1. PR and are a landed immigrant of canada and
2. Pay canadian taxes
3. But live in the US,

Can you apply for immigration for your family members?

Thanks for your guidance

About taxes...

They say two things are for sure in this world: death and taxes. So, here's what I know about taxes anyway:

- Canadian PRs living/working in the US have to pay taxes in both countries (I am right now working on a possibility to be able to declare myself non-resident for tax purposes, but it's kind of hard because they will tie status for immigration and taxes together).

- if you live and work in the US, and are Canadian PR or Canadian citizen, the only person you can sponsor for Canadian PR is a spouse, no other family members qualify. If you want to sponsor parents for example, you will have to live in Canada.

- if you have met the residency requirement (1095 days of physical residency in Canada) you can apply for citizenship even if you live/work in the US.

- last point: as soon as you become a Canadian citizen, you can declare yourself to be a non-resident of Canada and after that you will not have to pay any taxes - Canada does not tax your global income unless you are a resident of Canada.

Happy New Year everyone!
