I am a canadian working in US with H1B visa, I heard Canadian may apply for admission at the port-of-entry, is that mean if I leave US to third country and come back, I don\'t need to apply for visa in US consulate, what I need to do is just bring I-797 approval form, and employer\'s letter to the immigration office at international airport after arrival?

many thanks

I am not sure what are you talking about.
Being a Canadian (I mean Citizen), You are visa-exempt to United States all the time. so where is the question of visa coming from?
Now you want to keep your H1B approval notice with you all the time to show that you work in United States.

Dear Canedian,

Thanks for your reply, I know for canadian citizen, no visa is required to re-enter USA at the border, I did that a couple of times, just show them the I-797 approval notice and I-94 card, is that also apply to the international airport if I come back from third country? what I need to do is just present the I-797 approval notice then I will get a new I-94 card, I think my current I-94 must be submitted if I fly to third country, is it right?

I am Canadian and was on an H1-B visa. I left once to visit Mexico and another time to go to the UK. Both times re-entering at the airport all I had to do was show my passport with my H1 in it. On leaving sometimes the airline people will take away your arrival/departure record. Thats fine as you get a new one once you re-enter the country. To be on the safe side though you should always carry a copy of your resume and a copy of the approved H1 application (which your company has).
