Canadian PR - PLEASE ADVICE

Hi experts,

I urgently need advice on my Candian PR case.

My wife and I applied for Canadian PR in Jan 2004. Last week, our attorney informed us that interview waiver has been granted and we need to go for medicals. They are asking us for $700 (as per our agreement) and then they will forward medicals instructions to us.

Now, we were also simultaneous applicants for US GC. Yesterday, after 2 years of waiting, my wife's I-485 (primary EB applicant) was approved. My (derivative) I-485 is still pending, I am hoping it will be approved soon. Both of us hold jobs in California.

DO YOU THINK IN LIGHT OF GETTING US GC APPROVED, IT IS STILL WORTH SPENDING MONEY AND PURSUING CANADIAN PR?

Man, why is this so difficult to figure out. Drop the canada PR, it's not worth s#$%. Plus, you are at the mercy of a lawyer.

Do not do it if your american GC is confirmed.

The reason is money.

It will cost you more than $3000 for you and wife (all expenses counted).

I would not think of pursuing further if you don't have intention to migrate to CA. The reasons are you'll waste a lot of money and get nothing from it, and you can't maintain residency requirement for 2 countries at the same time.

Thanks a lot for your advice, you guys are probably right. Yesterday, my I-485 application was also approved, so both wife and me will now have US GC. To continue Canadian GC will cost us:

$700 - Lawyer fee
$300 x 2 - Medicals
$ 750 x 2 - Landing fee

Total = $ 2800

Also, we have a little baby, born in the US 3 months ago, and we will have to pay more (how much ??) to get his Canadian PR application through.

Plus, cost of making trip to Canada and taking that much time as vacation which I could use in spending some extra time back home in India.

So, all in all, unless I find some really compelling reason to continue Canadian PR in the next 2 weeks, I shall abandon this application.
