Canadian PR for US born children

Hi,

I'm applying for Canadian PR for myself and my wife from US and we both carry Indian passport. Can anyone suggest if it is worth filing Canadian PR applications for minor (less than 18 years old) children while they were born in US? I was being told that as long as they have US Passport they can travel and live in Canada without any visa. It make sense to me but I don't know the legal implication if I intend to move to Canada after one/two years and two of us (me and my wife) holding Canadian PR and kids without that.

Any suggestions?

I think your kids should also be included when you file now. I dont think Canadian consulate will allow you to suppress the fact that you already have kids. & you are supposed to include everyone in your family in the application.

Also when you do intend to move & live in Canada - US citizens even though they can enter Canada & live there without a visa, they will not be allowed any benefits such as free schooling, health care, etc.

Thanks Sapota1,

Your reply sounds quite realistic. It makes sense to apply for all together.

Anyone

Would you know if there is an alternate for not having an experience letter/certificate for couple of years of working in US. Out of total 5 and 1/2 years in US, I don't have 2 years of experience documented in the form of letter by any company. Company I worked in past has closed their offices and there is no way to get experience letter.

I have pay-stubs for whole period from the same company though. Would it be of any help?

Thanks in advance

Buddy007:

I was in similar situation as yours, CIC had requested me to provide experience letter from my current employer.

I did not provide the letter from the employer, instead sent a notarized copy of my job offer letter and pay stubs showing current employment. I also wrote a letter explaining why I could not send experience letter (did not want my employer to know that I was applying for Canadian PR).

After sending these information my PR was approved.

I think if you can do similar and explain the situation.
