Hi guys,
I need some info about the canadian immigration.
I applied for canadian immigration about a year ago. After applying i got married, i informed the canadian immigration authorities regarding the same. My wife is with me here in US. The canadian immigration authorities sent me few forms to be filled for my wife (IMM 0008, IMM 5406, IMM 5409), they asked for the police clearance certificates for her from the current place of residence and the place where she lived previously (india). she is on H4 visa, she does not have a social security. how and where do i get the certificate. Does any one has the same kinda situation. Help me out guys -- Thanks

I think for India the Canadian consulate will inquire on your behalf, so you need not worry about it. FOr USA, you will need a FBI clearance. You need to sent your fingerprints to FBI and they will send you a fingerprint clearance certificate. There is a specific form you need to request first, and then go to a authorized fingerprinting center and get fingerprints on that form. I think you can also do fingerprinting at some DMV and Police stations.

Social security has nothing to do with Canadian Immigration procedures.

It is true that Canadian consulate will do security check of your wife on your behalf in India, but to get finger print report from FBI, social security number of your wife is required. I remember that in the finger print report card there is a column where you have to write the social security number. Moreover FBI do their enquiry on the basis of SSN# Since your wife is on H4, so she can get SSN# withoutr any problem.
