Hi everyone,

I heard Canadian is able to use "L" category to apply green card. Is that true? Does L title have to be the same as TN title? If not match, will I get rejection? I know to get H-1 is very difficult now. Therefore, I want to use other category such as L-1 which is advantage for Canadian. Have you ever heard this before? Or any information can share?

Thanks,
Karie

Well this probably isn't the right forum to ask about the L-1 visas. If you qualify for one then that would be all you would need, not a TN or both.

Though I'm thinking if you're already in the US as a TN status then you probably can't get an L visa as it's for businesses and employess being sent to the US to a sister division (same company, Canadian and US locations), or them expanding (chain) into the US and you would be working for the new company. Either way you would need to be working for them in Canada in the first place I'm pretty sure. And they would take care of your L-1 visa to move so you wouldn't have to worry about that.

If you are not in that situation then I don't think there is another way to get a L-1 visa. So if you are on a TN already then you would have to go through the TN-GC method or marriage to a USC to get the green card (or H-1b if you really wanted to to that method)...
