Canada Passport question?

Hi,
I recently got canada citizenship and presently now working is USA. I'm planning on to apply Canadian passport.

I'm planning on to apply from USA. I do not know the gauarantors here in USA.

Did anybody had this situation applying from USA and how easy to get the passport? It is Ok If I give the references (persons) in USA

Any other valid answers are welcome

I applied for my passport (under urgent status) and got it in one day but boy was that some work!!

If you are working in the US, you can apply for your passport 2 ways:
Mail to windsor (takes 20 working days), give a US OR Canadian guarantor and 2 references (friends, coworkers etc)
Go to canada and apply as a canadian, must have a canadian guarantor though. References can be either canadian or american.
Assuming you don't have a guarantor (as was my case because i wanted it urgently and didn't have time to approach my accountant or doc), you must have 4 references and preferably canadians.

They called every single reference of mine and spoke to each for a good 2 min before so much as even taking money for my application. I had to urge friends to leave meetings to call back the passport office because they were pretty adamant, no call backs from references = no passport. I'm assuming that because i applied under urgent category, they were being very thorough since none of my friends had so much trouble.
