Hi,

I am moving to Canada from US. I am a Java professional with 6 years of experience. I am thinking of doing independent contracting since salaries are peanuts in Canada. What rate should I be expecting per hour in Toronto/Ottawa.

I assume that you are moving as a landing immigrant to Canada. If you are Java Professional with 6 years experience, it would be a wise idea to work as an independent/contract.The rates varies from cities to cities. For high cost area like Toronto and Vancouver, the rates can be from cdn$ 45-70. It also depends on how long the contract is. For long term contract, it can be Cdn$45 per hour.
