Canada immigrant visa stamping - remove I-94 from passports before mailing?

Hi all,

My husband and I received our passport requests two days ago and will be mailing our passports to Buffalo for stamping. Our I-94 forms are currently stapled to the passports. Do we need to remove them, to make sure they are not lost in the process, or do they need to stay in the passports as a proof of our U.S. status?

I would remove them - just to be safe!
