Can you leave country before INS sends an approval notice for B2 visa?

Hi,
I had applied for extension of B2 visa for my mom. Her I-94 expired on 8/4/02. I am still awaiting a response from INS. I had submitted the original I-94 along with the application. Now my mom has to leave on 10/25/02. If I don't get a response back from INS by that time and in turn the I-94 that I had submitted, can she leave the country without that I-94? I have a photocopy of the card. Please share your experience with me.

IF U HAVE A PHOTOCOPY OF I-94 THAT WILL DO.THAT WHAT I HAVE HEARD FROM OTHERS.I THINK THE THE RECEIPT WILL ALSO HELP.CAN U PLEASE POST WHICH SERVICE CENTRE,BECOZ I HAVE APPLIED FOR MY MIL.THANK YOU.
 
I HAVE APPLIED IN THE SAME CENTRE,BUT ONLY LAST MONTH.THANKS FOR UR REPLY.ANYWAY PLEASE KEEP UPDATING WHETHER UR MOTHER HAS GOT APPROVAL OR SHE IS LEAVING.GOOD LUCK.

My parents filed their extension in sept and we got the receipt in two weeks. Then no further response. They plan to leave in Dec. and may have to use the copy of the I-94.

Could you add more detail as to the difference between using copied I-94 and original I-94? I even forget the procedure of how to use the original I-94.

My parents are leaving next week, and they may have to use copied I-94. Please post some info if anyboby has similar experience. Thanks for the help in advance.
